Main Title
The Copenhagen Test
The Concept
The high-concept nature of this show demanded a premium opening title sequence. The concept is centered around the unsettling experience of being trapped in a maze, constantly monitored by unseen shadows. Crucially, this is a maze that defies solution because its rules are in perpetual flux.
The Process
The first version of the maze was too chaotic and nauseating. Significant time was dedicated to collaborating with the showrunners to refine the maze’s key attributes, including speed, turns, elevation changes, lighting, and texture. An earlier version of the maze was considerably longer.
In parallel with look development, which explored various degrees of texture, glossiness, and opacity, our team created a comprehensive bird’s-eye view of the maze. This allowed us to effectively choreograph the camera’s path and movement.
As the camera navigates its escape from the maze, unique, animated 2D/3D silhouettes are periodically embedded within the 3D structure, appearing and disappearing throughout the journey.
The Impact
The opening sequence serves to establish the scope of the conspiracy and reinforce that the audience is caught in a trap and under surveillance.
