Main Title Sequence

The Spiderwick Chronicles
The Concept
Magic can be found anywhere, you just have to know where to look.
Taking cues from Arthur’s illustrations we look closely at the real world and are able to finally see the hidden world that Arthur has discovered. The camera moves and flows allowing us to spot a tree opening its eyes or a pair of wings hidden among the leaves. This magical realm flourishes in the overlooked corners of our forests calling out to be uncovered by anyone daring enough to look closely. The pages come together and settle into Arthur’s field guide, collecting his discoveries for others to discover.
The Process
The forest was built from the ground up.
We meticulously choreographed the 3D landscape to facilitate the dynamic movement and interaction of our paper elements and creatures. Our talented team of artists collaborated closely with VFX and production to bring this world to life, populating the forest with a diverse range of creatures, insects, and animals. Nuanced environmental lighting, simulating fluid water dynamics, and generating photorealistic renderings defined the unique aesthetic of the opening. Complementing the CG, a significant amount of hand-drawn illustrations were created to capture the delicate and intricate designs of the paper elements.
The Impact
Bringing magic to the Emmys.
The opening sequence was nominated for a 2025 Children’s & Family Emmy award.
